Our Goals

The Global Colon Cancer Association takes action on a wide range of issues that affect colorectal cancer and general healthcare communities. We work with our members and in collaboration with partners and stakeholders that share our commitment to patient-centered healthcare.

  • Advocate

The GCCA advocates for patient-centered policies, increased education and advocacy related to screening, innovation in diagnostics and treatment, and access to safe and effective therapies. We have been an active voice in the patient, healthcare, and regulatory communities on issues that are important to patients. We have represented the CRC community at all levels of government, including the World Health Organization, United Nations, FDA, and local governments.

  • Educate

CRC is the most preventable major cancer through screening, yet in many countries, there are no formal screening programs, access to treatments, awareness campaigns, or patient voice to effectuate change. The GCCA is committed to increasing education related to colon cancer, particularly screening. We attend major oncology and gastroenterology conferences around the world where we frequently speak, present, and educate the community. We also educate through social media and other programs. We are currently developing educational content in a wide variety of languages to increase access to accurate, clear, and relevant information worldwide. Patient education is one of the most effective ways to prevent and diagnose CRC.

  • Collaborate

The GCCA now represents more than 40 members, all of which are patient organizations. Nearly all CRC patient groups from around the world are members. The GCCA works to help member organizations collaborate, innovate, and leverage the full potential of effectuating change. Through member-only portals, social media, and in-person conferences, the GCCA is building a powerful global voice for the CRC community worldwide. The GCCA also supports the creation of new CRC patient groups in developing areas which have none.

Only lung cancer kills more Americans each year than colon cancer, but it doesn’t have to be that way. With early detection and regular screenings, colon cancer is preventable, treatable, and beatable.
